In the 21st century, climate change represents a major challenge for the African rural community, especially in West Africa. The region is therefore faced with the urgent need to develop effective adaptation and mitigation measures. WASCAL (West African Scientific Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use) is a research program designed to respond to the challenge of climate change and increasing variability, and to enhance the resilience of human and environmental systems.
